Thankful Thursday

I have been working to try to appreciate the things that I have. Sometimes I spend too much time dwelling on what is wrong, rather than all the things in my life that are right. Here are some of the things that I am thankful for:
  • Logan is learning to talk and really becoming a little man. This means I am even thankful when he constantly tells me no and even throws himself on the floor.
  • Ally is always so full of emotion. This means that I am even thankful when she cries for 20 minutes and says that she can't stop.
  • Jacob is working hard to improve his schoolwork, even on reading, which isn't his favorite. This means I am even thankful when he doesn't want me to say I love you when I drop him off at school.
  • I love my warm blanket and Grey's Anatomy, so I am going to go watch my show!
  • But first, I have to say I'm thankful that each of my children says I love you to me so many times (even Jacob, just not in front of people at school).

Beaver in Training...

This morning Ally chose orange and yellow hair ties for me to fix her up. I was quite proud; she looked pretty cute.
Suddenly Jacob walked up to me, somewhat accusingly, Why did you put a yellow hair thing on Ally? Why not, I asked him. Because that's a Duck (University of Oregon) color!

A Few Pictures of Our Evening...

Ally was making brownies for us
I was chasing Logan with the camera

We all had to taste some brownie batter...

Now I've promised Jacob and Ally that we could play a game of Trouble after Logan goes to bed. So they have eagerly been telling me that their baby brother seems very tired

Too Much Sharing!

My children are sharing the one thing every mom wishes they wouldnt...their germs. They have been passing the germs from one to another to another and then back again. Today I cried after I received the dreaded call that Ally had gotten sick.
The irony is none of my kids have gotten really bad sick. It's just a yucky stomach thing that won't go away. But today I left work 2 hours early and discovered Ally was not "acting" sick at all. It made me feel a twinge of irritation. I actually thought (for a second), if I am going to miss work these kids need to be really sick.
So for a second of my day, I was actually irritated that my daughter was not laying miserably ill, waiting for me to care for her. When I think about it, I cannot believe how ridiculous I can become.
In the grand scheme of things, this is such a tiny problem. Ally and Logan are going to spend the day with their dad tomorrow, so I don't even have to miss work.
I just have to think (and even write) it out, at times. Then I remember that I am so lucky to have the 3 kids I have, even when they are sharing too much!
